NGSS SEP 1 - Developing and using models
NGSS SEP 2 - Asking questions (for Science) and defining problems (for Engineering)
NGSS SEP 3 - Constructing explanations (for Science) and designing solutions (for Engineering)
NGSS SEP 4 - Analyzing and interpreting data
NGSS SEP 5 - Using mathematical and computational thinking
NGSS SEP 6 - Plan and carry out investigations

When NGSS was adopted in 2014, many of the Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) already aligned precisely with SLM content. This is because the curriculum content has remained roughly the same and in line with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Systems Science over time and SLM modules were iteratively improved over the years in real practice. SLM integrates mathematical modeling on a spreadsheet into all STEM subject areas guided by the specific performance expectations outlined in NGSS.
