Provided Spreadsheets
Also provided on the USB is the completed Excel spreadsheet for each activity. Although it is beneficial for the teacher to actually construct the spreadsheet from the instructions on the handout, the electronic copies of the spreadsheets are there for your convenience. It is recommended that the teacher wanting to learn about the formula writing language and to help understand the formulas actually construct the spreadsheet by following the instructions to be better able to help students troubleshoot their work and to improve their skills in Excel.
Having the electronic copies available will also allow the teachers to save time in preparation and to show the students what their finished product will look like and how to navigate the spreadsheet in advance to make the lab run more smoothly. They can also be used for demonstrations and in some cases to quickly solve class problems when an answer key is not available.
Another recommended use is if the student has a problem with getting their spreadsheet to work correctly because of a formula error that he or she is unable to find with the teacher (and every effort has been made to create a working spreadsheet) then the teacher can simply save the completed spreadsheet on the student's computer to save the frustration of having to find an error imbedded into a large formula.
